Today I want to share a fantastic line of haircare that I found recently! While I am not a vegan,  I have been making the decision to change my personal care items to those that are not tested on animals and/or are vegan. When a product is labelled as vegan, that indicates that the product contains no animal products (including beeswax) and that the product is not tested on animals.

I had an opportunity to receive some PR samples of this collection and immediately fell in love! I have fine hair, and sadly, not a whole lot of it! I tend to keep my hair short (above the shoulders) and it can start to look greasy very quickly. I wash my hair everyday, so I look for products that offer benefits for my fine hair, but also offer benefits to keep it healthy. The Maui Moisture Thicken and Restore Bamboo Fibers line is exactly what I’ve been hunting for! Not only is it readily available, but the Bamboo Fibers collection boasts ingredients like neem oil (from an evergreen tree native to parts of India), aloe juice, and castor oil. These ingredients are sourced from sustainable sources and the products are produced without the use of parabens and sulfates.  And the best part is that the “base” of each shampoo is designed to offer hydration by substituting water for pure aloe juice!  So while my fine hair can’t handle a shampoo designed for dry hair, Maui Moisture has designed a range that offers my fine hair a boost of moisture while also catering to the thin, fine strands! The products are all handmade in the USA and are just being released in Canada mid-February 2017!

You’re probably wondering why I like this shampoo and conditioner so much? Well, let me tell you; Even though the shampoo does not contain any sulfates (most often added to increase lather and bubbles) it lathers beautifully in the hair! We don’t need bubbles and foam to fully clean our hair, but they certainly help us to feel clean! What I like is that the shampoo lathers nicely, and rinses out cleanly- so if you are only using a shampoo, Maui Moisture’s Bamboo Fibers line won’t leave your hair dry, static-y and flattened. The conditioner in this line is also perfect for fine hair. It is hydrating enough to keep my ends from splitting and flying away in the dry winter air, but is thin enough that if I need to add it to my roots, I can do so without having worry about having my hair weighed down (it’s silicone free!). In terms of scent, these products list parfum/fragrance as the very last ingredient, so they do have a slight scent. They smell very natural and very clean and scent doesn’t seem to linger through the day either!

Finally, for those of you with dry, curly, weak, color-treated or under nourished hair fear not- Maui Moisture has an additional 4 collections for you to play around with! Revive & Hydrate + Shea Butter, Curl Quench + Coconut Oil, Strength & Anti-Breakage + Agave, and Nourish & Moisture + Coconut Milk.

Each bottle of shampoo and conditioner is 385ml and will be selling for $10.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart and various other stores through out Canada.
