Review | Grand Senses at The Holman Grand Hotel

Girls. Guys. Everyone.

I’ve visited Grand Senses Spa in Charlottetown, PE a handful of times over the last few years and it just keeps getting better!

This past weekend, my mom and I visited the spa to take part in a promotion they were holding for the month of January- a Tulasara facial for $75! I’m a huge fan of facials and wish I could get them more often, but at $90 a pop, I just can’t justify a monthly trip to the spa. However, with the promotion, I was happy to book an appointment!

The staff at Grand Senses are absolutely wonderful. I can honestly say that I’ve never had a negative experience at this spa. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and always a pleasure to deal with. The front desk is always adequately staffed and I love being offered water and coffee before my service. We arrived about 10 minutes before our service time and were immediately ushered downstairs to the treatment rooms.

My service began with a foot scrub and chat with my aesthetician for the day, Holly. Holly asked about my skin; How it was feeling, what concerns I had and what I was hoping to gain out of the day’s service. She walked me through the treatment plan for the service and left me to get undressed and comfortable on the table. When Holly returned, she immediately got to work! Not a single minute was spared during the treatment.

One of my favorite aspects of an Aveda treatment is the individuality. I’ve always had an opportunity to choose my intention for the service (via essential oil blends) and this has allowed me to become completely immersed in my selected service. This time around I chose “Nourished” which is part of the pleasure chakra and has essences of sandalwood, orange, and geranium. This oil blend is used to bring the client into and out of the service and is a great addition for those who enjoy sensory experiences.

My face was cleansed, exfoliated and had multiple masks applied. Holly gave me a MEAN facial/head/shoulder massage and even worked on my hands and feet while the masks were setting. Holly welcomed all of my questions and seemed happy to walk me through her process. She shared the names of the products she was using and why she had chosen those products for my service;  I love having a chatty aesthetician who will share all of her tips and tricks! Holly finished my service with serum, moisturizer, and lip treatment.

When the service was completed Holly left me to get dressed and asked me to meet her upstairs when I was ready. We had chatted about some shampoo and other products offered by Aveda, so when I made my way to the front desk, she had kindly pulled them all from the shelf to show me. I was gifted a cleanser as part of the promotion and had an opportunity to thank Holly.

Once we had paid, my mom and I were offered a complimentary session on the Wellsystem Aqua Massage Therapy beds. Each bed is essentially a heated water-bed with jets of water that target groups of muscles through the body. The service is completed fully-clothed and is personalized by changing the water pressure, pulse points and groups of muscles worked on. What an experience! Due to my line of work, I get regular massages and this was almost as great; I can see this type of service being used as an in-between upkeep for those who get regular massages. It provides a great way to destress and just forget about life for a few minutes at a time!

You can view the Grand Senses website here and if you’re in PEI, I would HIGHLY recommend you check them out!

Girls, thank you for always providing wonderful service…I can’t wait to join you again!
